Ratings rock for “Camp Rock”

Although Disney Channel got the world premiere of “Camp Rock” Friday night and drew 8.9 million viewers – the most for any entertainment program on cable this year – the Saturday night repeat on ABC as the “Wonderful World of Disney” movie still drew a hefty average of 3.6 million viewers. That was the best showing for “Wonderful World of Disney” in kid and teen demos since the December 2006 broadcast premiere of “The Santa Clause 2.”


Disney orchestrated an an unprecedented, far-reaching cross-platform rollout of the new movie over four days. The world premiere of "Camp Rock" aired Friday night on Disney Channel, followed by its broadcast premiere on the ABC Television Network on Saturday and ABC Family on Sunday.  The movie also aired on Radio Disney premiered yesterday on Disney.com in Disney XD.  Outside of the US, "Camp Rock" premiered Friday on Family Channel Canada and Quebec’s VRAK.TV (dubbed in French) and will debut on Disney Channels around the world beginning in August.
