Back On Air, Thanks To A.I.R.: A Former Empire AM

On May 13, 2018, Joe Reilly‘s Empire Broadcasting Corp. began the process of reevaluating its three AMs and an FM translator serving New York’s Capital District.

Nearly six years after investing in the properties, along with an FM sold to Educational Media Foundation, the properties went dark. Reilly, who served as the first full-time director of the New York State Broadcasters’ Association from 1980-2011, said the stations were not “financially self-sufficient.”

Now, Empire is selling a silent AM licensed to Schenectady. The buyer inked an LMA on August 22, already putting it in control.
