The Tampa Bay Lightning are thisclose to meeting the Las Vegas Golden Knights in the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals.

It’s a sure bet that Russell Robertson will be cheering mightily for the Bolts.

Robertson has just been named SVP/Sales for iHeartMedia’s Tampa-St. Petersburg stations.

He takes the role after previously serving in a similar position for iHeart’s Seattle-Tacoma stations.

In Tampa, Robertson reports to Market President Chris Soechtig.

“I’m thrilled to have Russell join our team,” Soechtig said. “His 10-plus years of experience in iHeartMedia’s Pacific Northwest and San Diego regions, coupled with his passion for helping clients grow their business, makes him the ideal choice.”

Robertson’s resume includes stints as GSM for iHeart’s KIOZ-FM “Rock 105.3,” KGB-FM 101.5 and KLSD-AM 1360 in San Diego. He joined iHeart predecessor Clear Channel in 2001 after five years at Cox Radio. He began his career at the daily newspaper in Jacksonville, The Florida Times Union.

Robertson is a Florida native. He said, “I am very thankful for the opportunity I had in Seattle and working with some amazing broadcasters. The opportunity to be in my home state working with the Tampa iHeartMedia team was an opportunity I had to pursue.”

The iHeartMedia cluster in Tampa Bay is comprised of Rock WXTB-FM “98 Rock,” Top 40 WFLZ-FM, Country WFUS-FM, AC WMTX-FM, Urban WBTP-FM, Sports WDAE-AM, Talk WFLA-AM, Sports Talk WHNZ-AM, and nearby Tropical WRUB-FM in Sarasota-Bradenton, which recently shifted its tower north and now puts a signal over Pinellas County and much of Hillsborough County.
