Rome cluster wasn’t built in a day

But if you have the right Toole, the job can be done in due time. And Rome Radio Partners has Howard C. Toole, who will create a NW Georgia cluster with an acquisition, an LMA and a DIY project.

The acquisition is coming from Paul C. Stone’s McDougald Broadcasting Corporation. RRP will be getting WRGA-AM and WQTU-FM for $2.65M, completely financed via a 10-year promissory note.

Another Stone company, Coosa Broadcasting Corporation, will chip in another FM to the cluster-to-be. WSRM-FM Cousa GA will be operated on a rental basis by RRP in an LMA that commenced 4/1/09.

Finally, RRP has a CP to build WRBF-FM in Plainville GA. That station will be a Class A on 104.9 MHz with 1.8 kw @ 606’.

Three others have a stake in RRP in addition to Toole, James Smith, D. Randall Quick and Cheryl Scott.

But wait, there’s still a little bit more to this deal. Stone has been in an LMA with Women’s World Broadcasting Inc. in the market. WWBI owns WGJK-AM Rome and WTSH-FM Rockmart GA. Although RRP will not assume any LMA duties with these stations or their licensee, it will continue to rent studio space fro WWBI.
