Just days after word of a death threat against David Letterman, CBS had a second scare at its Los Angeles studios. A letter sent to Craig Ferguson, whose show follows Letterman, was found to contain a suspicious white powder.
Two staffers of “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” were exposed to the powder when the letter was opened. However, police determined that the substance was harmless.
Like Letterman, Ferguson joked about the threat on his show. “Today someone sent here an envelope packed with white powder. I said, ‘I’ll test it for you if you want.’ I have a special test that I conducted between 1979 and 1992,” Ferguson told his audience.
“This is the most attention this show has gotten since… it’s the most attention this show has gotten,” Ferguson said in his monologue following the incident.
