Sellers Sells In Cedar Rapids

The owner of an AM radio station with an FM translator has decided to sell the properties.

How appropriate. The licensee’s name is Sellers Broadcasting.

KMRY-AM 1450, “Locally Owned” and “Locally Involved,” is a Cedar Rapids, Iowa-licensed 1kw Class C, using 1 tower. It uses K226BO at 93.1 MHz to bring it a bit of AM “revitalization.”

Soon, the facilities, pending FCC approval, will be owned by Ecker Broadcasting.

That’s because Ecker, the successor in interest to Metro Sports Report Inc., is executing its option to purchase the properties. The option agreement was codified on February 23.

The AM and FM translator are worth $700,000, and a $10,000 nonrefundable deposit has been made to Sellers.

The buyer is led by Jim Ecker, while the man behind Sellers is Rick Sellers.

Sellers in July 2020 agreed to purchase an AM with the call letter KUSH, under the licensee name Oil Patch Radio.
