The Wednesday morning Senate Judiciary hearing entitled "Ensuring Television Carriage in the Digital Age" will feature two broadcasters, one satellite operator and – surprisingly – nobody from the cable industry, unless committee chair Patrick Leahy (D-VT) has another witness up his sleeve. Presenting statements and answering questions will be Barrington Broadcasting Group’s frequent testifier K. James Yager; CBS Corporation’s Martin D. Franks; and DISH Network’s Charles Ergen. The session kicks off 2/24/09 at 10AM.

The panel has also scheduled a Tuesday 2/24/09 session of interest to many, called “The Ticketmaster/Live Nation Merger: What Does it Mean for Consumers and the Future of the Concert Business?” It will be held at 2:30 PM, and witness have not yet been announced.

The House Judiciary Committee is mirroring the Senate ticket hearing with one of its own, called “Competition in the Ticketing and Promotion Industry.” It’s scheduled for Thursdsay 2/26/09 at 10AM. The committee has not yet announced witnesses for this one either.
