Silent Arizona FM Set For Resurrection

Drivers who head between Southern California and Phoenix know the town of Blythe, Calif., and Quartzsite, Ariz., on the east side of the Colorado River.

There’s a silent FM radio station serving this area, and it’s just traded hands.

Licensed for 390 watts at 3,346 feet above sea level is KCNL-FM 105.9, licensed to Quartzsite.

It is presently owned by FMI Media, but a new owner is in place, as FMI is selling KCNL for $70,000.

The buyer is Marvin Vosper, who has made a refundable $2,000 deposit to MCH Enterprises.

At closing, Vosper is sending FMI a check for $12,000. The remaining funds will be held in a Promissory Note bearing 6% interest. It is a six-year note.

The deal gives Vosper his second radio station in the area. He is the owner of “Classic Oldies” KBUX-FM 96.5, licensed to Quartzsite. The station’s signal does not reach Blythe.
