An AM station in the St. George-Cedar City UT market failed to find a sustainable business model, and it eventually was put under the TLC of a receiver. The receiver has now found a buyer.

The station is KENT-AM, licensed to Parowan UT. It’s licensee is AM Radio 1400 Inc., with Wayne Klein filling the role of receiver since 9/25/09.

The buyer is Canyon Media Group, headed by M. Kent Frandsen. CMG will pay $12K for the station in a deal which has already received court approval.

AM Radio 1400 acquired the station as a CP pursuant to a 1/7/03 contract, with E. Morgan Skinner Jr. on both sides of the buyer-seller table. The sale, couched as a stock deal, went in the books at $300K.

KENT-AM just filed an STA to go silent for the time being. It is a Class C on 1400 kHz with 1 kW-U, NE.

It will form a combo with CMG’s Hot AC KPLD-FM The Planet, which broadcasts 100 kW @ 1,969’ from its perch at 94.1 MHz on the FM dial.
