SBG / Sinclair Broadcast Group
At the moment, Sinclair broadcasts to mobile devices on only two television stations in one market, but that is about to change. Over the next six months, the group will add ten stations in nine markets to the list which currently shows Columbus OH alone.

Sinclair and partner licensee Cunningham Broadcasting Corporation offer mobile DTV service on WSYX-TV and WTTE-TV in the Columbus OH DMA. It provides consumers equipped with the right kind of portable phone of table to receive free content from the two local broadcast outlets.

“As local broadcasters who serve our communities every day, we witness first-hand the value our content and services provide to millions of viewers and businesses,” commented Mark Aitken , VP of Advanced Technology for Sinclair and Chairman of the ATSC A/153 MobileDTV standardization activity. “The pace of technology makes it imperative for broadcasters to continue to lead in serving our communities. Broad adoption of MobileDTV, as a part of our local broadcast television offering, is the next step. We are confident our Network partners will see the value mobile simulcasting brings in building station and Network brands, audience share, and local television relevancy.”

Austin KEYE (CBS)
Baltimore WBFF (FOX)
Cincinnati WKRC (CBS)

RBR-TVBR observation: Protect and expand – that’s the strategy. Do everything in your power to protect the local turf which is broadcast’s key advantage in this day and age. Meanwhile, take advantage of every single technical edge this day and age has to offer. We see this as the only path to continued success in an uncertain future.
