Sinclair Broadcast Group hired an individual some 17 years ago who has risen through the sales and operations ranks at its flagship TV station in Baltimore.

Now, he’s been selected to lead FOX affiliate WBFF-45 — and the two other stations Sinclair runs, but doesn’t own, in Charm City.

Billy Robbins has earned the VP/GM role, overseeing the station.

His duties will also see him take on management of Sinclair’s shared services agreement that allows it to operate MyNetworkTV affiliate WUTB-24 in Baltimore. WUTB is owned by Deerfield Media.

Furthermore, Robbins will manage Sinclair’s provision of services to The CW affiliate in Baltimore, WNUV-54. This station is owned by Cunningham Broadcasting.

Robbins reports directly to Rob Weisbord, Sinclair’s President of Broadcast and Chief Advertising Revenue Officer.

“I am excited and honored to be given the opportunity to lead Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Flagship Station,” said Robbins, who joined Sinclair/Baltimore as GSM in 2004. “Over the past 17 years, I have had a front row seat to watch as FOX45 News has grown to be Baltimore’s news leader. We are deeply rooted in the Baltimore community due to our employees’ drive and commitment to excellence. I am fortunate to be surrounded by such a hardworking and dedicated team. We will continue to ask the tough questions and give voice to the voiceless as we move ahead in these difficult times. I look forward to working more closely and collaborating with everyone, as we continue to find ways to best serve our community, viewers, clients and partners.”
