Allstar Products Group, the maker of Snuggie®, is looking to get into the movie business, but in a strictly amateur auteur way. It will kick off a contest for fans of the product to produce their own Snuggie®-themed movie shorts, with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners.
Videos featuring the company’s blanket with sleeves will be solicited during the Fall in a television campaign featuring a take-off on the novelty hit recording “Macarena.” Snuggie®-wearing models will be doing the “Snugarena” in a series of commercials with evolving lyrics and scenes.
1st prize winner among amateur contestants will win $5K, with $2.5K going to to the entrants who place and show. The company will select six finalists and allow the public to vote during the month of September.
