Radio broadcast vet Gary Begin is opening a new programming consultancy, “Sound Advantage Media” (SAM). It specializes in adult formats such as AC, Hot AC, Country, Adult Standards, News Talk, Classic Rock and Smooth Jazz, while offering a ‘personal touch’ for small and medium market broadcasters seeking a “Sound Advantage” in a very crowded marketplace. 


Sound Advantage Media offers strategies and tactics that positively impact revenue and ratings, including non-traditional revenue sources. 

Begin tells RBR-TVBR: “Radio forgot its part of the entertainment business. You must offer the act that’s unique.”

In addition to formatics, the company is offer talent coaching, station monitoring, recruitment of personnel, market and audience research, station critiques and promotions. 

Begin has programming and on-air experience in markets such as Tampa, FL, Sarasota, FL, Providence, RI, Saginaw, MI, Hagerstown, MD, Portland and Waterville, ME.

SAM is debuting with offers two custom formats: “A Touch of Class,” a new modern easy-listening format designed for women 25-54 tired of today’s homogenized play lists. It includes artists such as Harry Connick Jr, Tony Bennett, Rod Stewart and others. “All 80’s Hits” is music-intensive and very flexible with over 1.200 tested titles. “All 80’s Hits” is available with entertaining personalities, promotions and imaging, and is accompanied by a copy-written rotation, keeping the music fresh while eliminating listener burn-out.
