Stanley Kaplan wasn’t a media mogul, but the company he created, indeed the industry he pioneered, is now the biggest revenue and profit generator for a major media company, the Washington Post Company. Kaplan retired in 1994, 10 years after selling Stanley H. Kaplan Educational Centers to the Post Company. Kaplan died of natural causes on Sunday at age 90.
