Station, failing to get Liberty, finds Faith instead

Melvin N. Eleazer and his MNE Broadcasting has a deal to sell WDRL-TV in the Roanoke-Lynchburg DMA with the late Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University. That deal fell through. But now Eleazer is back with again, with new buyer Living Faith Ministries Inc. The original deal was filed at the FCC 3/30/07 and carried a price tag of $6M. As with a lot of real estate and related items, the price has dropped in the interim. Living Faith, headed by Michael David Smith, will pay $5.25M, most of that over time pursuant to three promissory notes. WDRL had been a UPN affiliate and went indy when that network morphed into CW. For noncommercial Living Faith, it’ll be station #4, joining outlets in Knoxville TN, Tri-Cities TN-VA and Bluefield-Beckley-Oak Hill WV.
