‘Struggling Communities’ Hardest Hit by Local Journalism Decline

With radio newsrooms in the nation’s biggest cities few and far between, TV news now dominates when it comes to reporting on what’s happening in communities across the U.S. But, what about those towns and villages far from the epicenter of a television market?


Until now, the newspaper has been a key source of information. But, if trends continue, this puts Radio in a position to become a leader — if it only had the resources to fend off digital media ranging from citizen journalists to internet-based entities home to veteran reporters and editors.
