The Scottish News of the World, a celebrity news-focused tabloid in Scotland, reports that the UK’s ITV has signed Internet sensation Susan Boyle for an hour-long “glitzy telly extravaganza.” The report has not yet been confirmed by ITV.
The report says native Scot Boyle will perform live in front of a galaxy of stars for the television special titled “An Audience with Susan Boyle.” The Christmas season event is expected to be a huge audience draw for ITV and for syndication worldwide. No word yet on who might get the US rights. Her only US singing appearance to date has been on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”
Boyle, who became a YouTube sensation after her appearance on “Britain’s Got Talent” (where she finished 2nd), will release her first album on November 23rd. Pre-sales are already breaking records.
