While Arbitron remains focused on the United States as the primary market for its Portable People Meter, the ratings company continues to license the technology for use in other countries. Arbitron announced Tuesday (10/25) that Sweden is the 8th foreign country where PPM will be used to measure broadcast audiences.
“After a multi-year competitive review, the Swedish radio industry has selected our Portable People Meter system for a national radio audience measurement [service], starting in summer of 2012. Sweden is the latest of eight countries outside the United States to have chosen our PPM technology for their radio or television audience measurement services,” said COO Sean Creamer in Arbitron’s quarterly Wall Street conference call.
Creamer noted intense competition in the field and said each selection validates the PPM technology.
