There’s a Teansie change at a group of TV stations in Northern California now owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group.
A GM has been selected to serve as the successor to Andrew Stewart, who in mid-May was named VP/GM of Gray Television‘s NBC affiliate in Omaha-Council Bluffs, WOWT-6.
Taking the role of Chico-Redding and Eureka, Calif., General Manager is Teansie Garfield, who heads to Northern California after serving for the last year as Director of Sales and Marketing at TEGNA-owned WFAA-8 in Dallas.
It’s a return to Sinclair for Garfield, who served as Group Head of Sales from 2014-2017, holding responsibilities for revenue supervision and sales organization in 34 markets.
Her extensive career in TV includes roles as Sales Manager for CBS News in Dallas-Fort Worth, as Director of Sales for LIN Television-owned KXAN-TV in Austin, and as VP/Sales for NBC O&O KXAS-5 in Dallas.
Garfield began her career in 1980 as an AE for KRGV-TV in McAllen-Brownsville and from 1982-1983 was an AE for radio stations WBAP-AM & KSCS-FM in Dallas.
Now, Garfield will get to experience life behind the Redwood Curtain, as she’ll be leading the growth of Sinclair’s recently acquired ABC affiliate KAEF-23 in Eureka-Arcata, in addition to FOX affiliated KBVU-28, The CW affiliated KECA-LD 29, and Univision affiliate KEUV-LP 31.
Garfield will also be getting used to the scenic three-hour drive on CA-299 across the Trinity Alps to Redding, Calif., as she will also be overseeing ABC affiliate KRCR-7 (ABC), FOX affiliate KCVU-20, MyNetwork TV affiliate KRVU-LD /KZVU-LD, and Univision affiliate KUCO-LP 27.
Steve Marks, Sinclair’s EVP/COO, welcomed Garfield back with open arms. “We believe that her long history in television sales … make her a natural fit to head our stations in Northern California.”
Garfield said, “These stations have a great tradition of serving the communities of Chico–Redding and Eureka, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with such a strong team … We will continue to strive to achieve results across all platforms for our viewers, our customers and our employees.”
