The Africa Channel, Time Warner Cable announce LA launch

The Africa Channel, the U.S.-based television network showcasing the rich and diverse perspectives of Africa’s people, will make its official launch in Los Angeles on Time Warner Cable on July 29th on Channel 176.  The announcement was jointly made by Eric Brown, The Africa Channel’s executive vice president of affiliate sales, and Jeffrey Hirsch, Time Warner Cable Metro Division President.


The network will be launched in the Time Warner Cable LA Metro division including the cities of South and West L.A., Artesia, Athens, Baldwin Hills, Bell, Bellflower, Bell Gardens, Carson, Claremont, Compton, Covina, Cudahy, Culver City, Downey, Harbor, Hawaiian Gardens, Hollywood, Inglewood, Kagel Canyon, Ladera Heights, Lakewood, La Mirada, Lakeview Terrace, Lennox, Lomita, Lynwood, Maywood, Paramount, Playa Del Rey, Playa Vista, Pomona, Santa Fe Springs, South el Monte, Sunland, Sylmar, Tujunga, Westchester and Wilshire.

Last November, The Africa Channel and Time Warner Cable entered into a national affiliation agreement that provides the network with the opportunity for distribution on Time Warner Cable systems serving more than 14 million households throughout the U.S.
