The InFOCUS Podcast: Dick Foreman on Lowry Mays

Broadcast media industry leaders across the U.S. are mourning another giant who has passed away. On Monday, September 12, Lowry Mays — the man who in 1975 teamed with Red McCombs and sold an FM to secure ownership of WOAI-AM 1200 in San Antonio — passed away.

With that purchase, following the sale of an FM radio station he held for three years, the foundation for what is today iHeartMedia, formerly Clear Channel Communications was set. Clear Channel would go on to own roughly 1,200 radio stations, an out-of-home unit that’s since been spun off, and television stations.

In this InFOCUS Podcast, presented by dot.FM, RBR+TVBR Editor-in-Chief Adam R Jacobson chats with veteran media broker Dick Foreman, who handled some deals for Clear Channel under Mays’ ownership, about his legacy and his many charitable efforts — including those with the Broadcasters Foundation of America.
