ELMIRA, N.Y. — It’s been said by many in the broadcast media industry that active community involvement is one of the most important ingredients for creating a successful station group. But, the application of this principle, and the results seen by the AMs and FMs tasked with the assignment, likely vary from market to market.
In what’s known as the “Twin Tiers” straddling a picturesque swath of Western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania, there’s a company that’s committed to becoming an active community member, and perhaps reflector, of the towns and small cities in which its stations are located.
In fact, this owner of AMs and FMs across the spine of the Empire State, in addition to three cities in South Carolina and a cluster on Florida’s Panhandle, is all about community. If not, this company’s very name — Community Broadcasters, LLC — would be a misnomer.
