The U.S. Ad Marketplace: Expanding Thanks To SMBs

DELRAY BEACH, FLA. — One of South Florida’s biggest draws, for locals and tourists alike, is Atlantic Avenue in downtown Delray Beach. A mile-long stretch of this road connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Florida Everglades is chock full of small and medium-sized businesses, along with eateries owned by regional restaurant groups and the occasional national chain retailer.


According to the latest advertising spend trend data from Standard Media Index, it is the SMB that is driving ad marketplace expansion in 2019. But, is the “local” media of Radio benefiting? SMI says SMBs are placing their dollars not on AM and FM, but in local digital platforms.
