TRANSACTIONS TODAY: Gold Coast Radio, First Media

Gold Coast Radio has expanded in San Luis Obispo, Calif., in a deal in which Kalil & Co. was the exclusive broker.


First Media Radio has snagged $11 million for six FMs in two deals brokered by Larry Patrick of Patrick Communications and Michael J. Bergner of Bergner & Co.

A Wisconsin translator is being acquired by Zoe Communications.

In an announcement distributed Tuesday (Oct. 4), Gerardo Ceja’s Gold Coast Radio is acquiring KURQ-FM 107.3 in Grover Beach, Calif., from Jason Wolff’s El Dorado Broadcasters for an undisclosed price.

KURQ is a Class B facility with 3.5kw serving the San Luis Obispo, Calif. market. The station presently simulcasts El Dorado’s regional Mexican Class A KMLA-FM 103.7 “La M” in the Oxnard-Ventura, Calif., market to the south on U.S. 101.

Kalil & Co. is the exclusive broker for this transaction.

FIRST MEDIA DIVESTS IN KEYSTONE STATE, EASTERN SHORE

First Media Radio, led by COO Alex Kolobielski, has pocketed $11 million with the sale of six stations in two separate transactions.

In the first deal, Kolobielski’s company is selling Class B WOWQ-FM in Du Bois, Penna.; Class B1 WQYX-FM in Clearfield, Penna.; Class A WZDB-FM in Sykesville, Penna.; and Class A WZDD-FM Strattanville, Penna., to Seven Mountains LLC for $4.5 million. Each of the stations serve an area near Punxatawney.

Seven Mountains is led by President Kristin Cantrell.

In the second deal, Donald Alt and Kerby Confer’s Forever Media is purchasing Class B1 WCEI-FM 96.7 in Easton, Md., and Class A WINX-FM 94.3 in St. Michaels, Md., from First Media Radio for $6.5 million.

Larry Patrick of Patrick Communications served as the broker for First Media in each transaction.

Michael J. Bergner of Bergner & Co. was the exclusive broker for Seven Mountains and for Forever Media.

 

TRANSACTIONS TODAY IN BRIEF

  • David M. Stout is selling the construction permit for FM translator W272DJ in Ladysmith, Wisc., to Zoe Communications for $30,000. The translator will be used as an FM home for WHSM-AM 910 in Hayward, Wisc. WHSM is a Class D nondirectional with 5kw day but just 75 watts at night, serving a rural area between Eau Claire and Superior. W272DJ is moving from Ladysmith, to the Hayward area.
  • Silent FM KHKO-FM in rural Prairie City, Ore., has been acquired from KBI Inc. by XANA Oregon for $13,500.
  • Beasley Media Group has closed on the purchase of FM translator W299CA in Fayetteville, NC from Radio Statesboro for $50,000. Bob Heymann of the Chicago office of Media Services Group served as the exclusive broker in this transaction.
