Two-hours of 'American Idol' winner for FOX, again

The AMERICAN IDOL Top 11 performance show led FOX to a nightly victory across all key demos last night.


FOX beat the combined 4-net competition for the night by +10% among Adults 18-49 (7.7 vs. 7.0) and +2% in Total Viewers (23.5 vs. 23.1 Mil.).  In addition, FOX outperformed the next highest rated network (CBS) last night by +208% among Adults 18-49 and +150% in Total Viewers.

AMERICAN IDOL:  7.7/22, up +1% from last Wednesday in the adult demo and up +4% in Total Viewers (23.5 vs. 22.6 Mil.)
                                          
IDOL was the highest rated program of the night in all key demos and outperformed the next highest rated program of the night by +79% in A18-49 (vs Modern Family)  and +118% in Total Viewers (vs Modern Family and Survivor) 
        
IDOL showed impressive growth throughout the night, gaining +32% in its last half hour vs. its first and +30% in Total Viewers

Last night AMERICAN IDOL retained 92% vs. the comparable telecast last year in A18-49 (vs. 8.4/23, Top 11 on 3/23/10) and retained 97% in Total Viewers (vs. 24.2 Mil.)         
So far this season with Comparable Most Current ratings AMERICAN IDOL retains 93% of last year’s same telecasts in A18-49 (8.8/23 vs. 9.5/24) and 99% in Total Viewers (25.1 vs. 25.4 Mil.)**

Competition

On ABC, The Middle (2.0/6) posted its lowest original rating of the season, down -13% from its last original on 3/02/11. 

Following a repeat of The Middle (1.7/5) at 8:30p, Modern Family (4.3/12) was up +2% but on the low side compared to its season average.

Closing out the night, new programs Mr. Sunshine (2.2/6, up +22%) and Off The Map (1.5/4, up +15%) were on par with their recent performances.

On CBS, Survivor: Redemption Island started the night with its lowest regular telecast ever (3.0/9, down -6%).

Through six weeks Survivor is off to its lowest rated start ever (3.2/9), down -14% from its previous lowest installment though this point in the season (Survivor: Samoa, 3.7/11, Fall 2009). Following a Criminal Minds repeat (2.1/6), Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior (2.2/6) matched its worst performance to date, down -12% from last week.

NBC’s Minute to Win It delivered a 1.2/4 (up +20%) at 8p, followed by a Law & Order: SVU repeat (1.1/3) at 9p. At 10p, an original Law & Order: SVU (2.6/7) gained +8% week over week.
