Univision Reiterates Its Stance On DISH Patent Fight

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. — There’s been no love lost between Hispanic media giant Univision Communications and DBS provider DISH Network in the last six months.

The two entities continue to be engaged in a bitter dispute over retransmission fees, with DISH dropping Univision Deportes Network on November 13, 2018 following the July dumping of the Univision, UniMás and Galavisión networks.

While Univision CEO Vince Sadusky has encouraged customers to dump DISH and find a new provider “that supports the Hispanic community and carries Univision’s Spanish-language programming,” DISH has turned its legal team toward Univision with claims that it is infringing on streaming patents.
