He’s widely known for his two decades of experience as an influential media sector financial analyst on Wall Street. Most recently, he filled the shoes of Marci Ryvicker, also known for her past experience as a media sector analyst, at Wolfe Research.
Now, John Janedis is taking a cue from Ryvicker by going corporate.
Effective Monday (2/7), Janedis will serve as Chief Financial Officer for fuboTV, the sports-intensive live television streaming platform. He succeeds Simone Nardi who, as previously announced, will depart the company “to pursue new opportunities.”
Janedis will be based in fuboTV’s New York City headquarters and report directly to CEO David Gandler.
Gandler commented, “2022 will be a pivotal and exciting time for fuboTV as we aim to continue to grab market share from pay television, and develop and enhance our advertising and wagering products to drive strong unit economics. We are focused on transforming the live TV streaming space with the integration of interactive products, including Fubo Sportsbook, to enhance the live TV streaming experience and engage sports fans. John is a seasoned financial leader in the media space who will be a critical partner as we craft fubo’s strategic and financial plan for this year and beyond.”
For Janedis, it is his belief that fuboTV’s product offerings “are at the early stages of their growth cycles and well-positioned to capitalize on a sizable market opportunity and evolving consumer behaviors.” He looks forward to helping fuboTV in its efforts to further expand its market share in the coming years.
Until 2020, Janedis was at TEGNA, where he served as SVP/Capital Markets, Treasurer and Investor Relations. In his two years at the company formerly known as Gannett, he advised on key strategic and capital market decisions, M&A and growth initiatives.
But, before that, Janedis was a familiar name to those dialing in to quarterly earnings calls for publicly traded radio and television companies for his queries during the Q&A session of each conference call. From 2014-2018, he was Managing Director and Sr. Equity Research Analyst at Jefferies. Before that, he spent four years in leadership positions in equity research at UBS Securities (2010-2014), and at Wells Fargo Securities (2006-2010). Likewise, he held stints at Banc of America Securities (2000-2006) and at Morgan Stanley & Co. (1999-2000).
Janedis was a colleague of Ryvicker while at Wells Fargo Securities. She exited the firm after 16 years in October 2018 to join Wolfe Research. She departed Wolfe in January 2020 for a position at Comcast, where she serves as SVP of Investor Relations.
