Waiver not in time to save WYLE-TV

0

A Florence AL television station spent too much time off the air and has been reeled back in the by the FCC with its analog and digital licenses cancelled and its call letters deleted. The station, WYLE-TV, was in the Huntsville-Decatur-Florence AL DMA, where it was licensed to ETC Communications. A deal selling it to WYLE-TV LLC had been filed, worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.2M, seeking a failed station waiver to pair it with CW WHDF-TV. Efforts to restore the station to service were not swift enough to satisfy the FCC.
