The kick-off of holiday retail sales over the Thanksgiving weekend was a huge success, with sales volume reported to be up double digits from a year ago. That good news, plus some renewed optimism regarding Europe’s fiscal crisis, sent stock prices up sharply on Monday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 291 points, or 2.6%, to 11,523. What’s good for retailing is good for broadcasters, so radio and TV stocks had a good day.
The RBR Radio Index was up 15.188, or 5.2%, to 310.083.
The TVBR Television Index was up 9.733, or 4.8%, to 213. 206.
