With Macy’s holding steady at No. 5 and JCPenney slipping in rank to No. 9, Walmart soared all the way to the No. 1 spot, from No. 10, thanks to the placement of 43,624 spots at the radio stations tracked by Media Monitors.
The jump for Walmart, also a big online retailer, came as Amazon.com began to wind down its holiday efforts.
