Want An Atlanta TV Signal? This One’s For Sale

It’s no secret that available broadcast TV stations are few and far between for aspiring buyers.

As such, there could be some considerable interest in a low-power TV station being marketed by one veteran media broker that serves one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the Southeast U.S.

The station? WLVO-21 in Atlanta, today an affiliate of the Diya TV network serving South Asian consumers.

WLVO uses digital channel 26 and relocated from Cumming, Ga., following its June 2015 purchase by DTV America Corp., now controlled by HC2 Broadcasting.

Today, WLVO is licensed to United Media Network, and is an Asian-owned station with a vision of serving the Atlanta market with multiple channels in various Asian languages, including Hindi, Gujarati, Korean, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

P.I. Joy, Chairman of “Joy TV Network,” noted, “There is a huge market out there that is waiting to tap into the demand for Asian and Hispanic culture and programs.”

Alas, it appears the vision of Mr. Joy may have shifted through the pandemic, as WLVO is being pitched to buyers by Doyle Hadden and his Hadden & Associates.

Among the basics: WLVO has a tower site owned by American Tower. The existing lease would be extended to the buyer.

Second, the 48 dbu population count with respect to potential consumers is 4.66 million people.

Third, WLVO’s offices and studios in Norcross, Ga., are available for purchase, too.

What’s the asking price? “All reasonable offers” are being considered from qualified buyers.
