Washington Rules News At KNBC

LOS ANGELES — Renee Washington, who has served as Assistant News Director of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations O&O KNBC-4 in L.A. since fall 2018, has just been upped to an executive news role.


Washington will now serve as VP/News for the Universal City-based station, bringing more than two decades of experience to the role.

She reports to KNBC President/GM Steve Carlston, who said, “Renee’s experience as a news leader in major markets like Los Angeles and New York will enhance our already strong newscasts. Her knowledge of Southern California, dedication and commitment to quality journalism makes her the ideal leader for our news team.”

Washington added,  “To lead an exceptional group of news professionals who value diversity and are telling the stories that matter to Southern Californians is my priority. It’s a privilege to work alongside NBC4’s experienced and legendary anchors and reporters.”

Prior to joining KNBC Washington held leadership roles at the Disney-ABC Television Group in Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia. This includes stints as Assistant News Director of KABC-7 in L.A., and as an executive producer at WPVI-6 in Philadelphia and WABC-7 in N.Y.

From 2005-2008, she worked at stations owned by The E.W. Scripps Co. 

Washington began her career in Indianapolis, as a Producer at WISH-8.
