WAYMedia Founder/President Bob Augsburg, has announced the long anticipated launch: “This has been a long time coming” says Augsburg,  “For nine years WAY-FM has been serving the Huntsville, AL area. That station was a success almost immediately. We have had so many requests to bring WAY-FM to Birmingham and now we have finally been able to make it happen.”

The Birmingham expansion of WAY-FM is being led by WAY-FM Huntsville General Manager Thom Ewing who noted, “It’s been a request, a dream and a prayer of many to hear Birmingham’s own WAY-FM.  We’re very excited to provide the most popular contemporary Christian music along with real and relevant DJ’s like Wally and unique outreaches to the most populous city in Alabama.”

The new WAY-FM in Birmingham now makes four distinct outlets for WAY-FM in the state. The first signal was WAY-FM Huntsville which signed on in 2003. That was followed by two WAY-FM translators in Montgomery. Then in 2010, WAY-FM launched a full power station in Northeast Alabama serving Gadsden and Anniston. The new Birmingham signal serves approximately 700,000 people.
