Wednesday was all finale of 'American idol'


Last night’s AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 10 FINALE ran from 8:00-10:07pm and posted a 9.2 rating among Adults 18-49, up +12% in the core demo vs. last year’s finale (vs. 8.2 on 5/26/10) and up +21% in Total Viewers (29.3 vs. 24.2 Mil.)

This is the first time in five years that AMERICAN IDOL has shown year to year growth in the finale among Adults 18-49 (since 5/24/06) and in three years in Total Viewers (since 5/21/08).

Last night’s AMERICAN IDOL was the show’s most watched telecast in Total Viewers in over 16 months (since last season’s premiere on 1/12/10).

AMERICAN IDOL’s finale last night beat the Dancing With The Stars Tuesday finale by +37% in Total Viewers (29.3 vs. 21.4 Mil) and +100% among Adults 18-49 (9.2 vs. 4.6).

With last night’s IDOL, FOX delivered the most-watched night of the season among Total Viewers (excluding nights with sports and the Academy Awards).

So far this season with Comparable Most Current ratings AMERICAN IDOL Season 10 retains 95% of Adults 18-49 (8.3/23 vs. 8.7/23) and is up +5% in Total Viewers (25.0 vs. 23.9 Mil.) versus last year’s telecasts.

FOX won the night among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Teens and all key demos and outperformed the combined 4-net competition for the night by +64% in Adults 18-49 and +61% in Total Viewers. FOX also beat its nearest competitor for the night by +300% in Adults 18-49 (9.2 vs. 2.3 for ABC) and +337% in Total Viewers (29.3 vs. CBS’ 6.7 Mil.)
