WGAC named Georgia Radio Station of the Year — again

For the 9th consecutive year, News/Talk 580 WGAC-AM was named the Georgia Association of Broadcasters “Radio Station of the Year,” mid-sized market. The station was recognized at the Association’s 2010 annual awards banquet held last month in Atlanta. 


Four News/Talk 580 WGAC-AM radio station personnel were also individually recognized with Georgia Association of Broadcasters coveted “Gabby” Awards: News Director and Morning Show Host, Mary Liz Nolan, won “Best Newscast”; Austin Rhodes, host of The Austin Rhodes Show, won “Personality of the Year;” Sports Director, Ashley Brown, won “Best Sportscast” and “Best Sports Feature;” and Production Director, Michael Lane, was honored for the year’s “Best Commercial.”  Additionally, sister-station Kicks 99 WKXC-FM walked away with top honors in the “Community Service” category.

Also noteworthy, News/Talk 580 WGAC-AM Investigative Reporter, Scott Hudson, received honorable mention in the “Best Feature Story” category and the Kicks 99 Wake-Up Krew received honorable mention for “Best Non-News Program” at the annual award s ceremony.

Kent Dunn, VP/Market Manager for Beasley’s Augusta cluster, commented, “WGAC has been named station of the year for 9 years in a row. No other station in Georgia can claim that distinction and I think this year’s win demonstrates the heritage and legacy of WGAC.”  

WGAC-AM is simulcast at 93.1 on the FM band. WGAC AM/FM is Augusta’s Number One Station (Arbitron 12+, Mon-Sun, 6a-12m) and the morning show, “Augusta’s Morning News,” hosted by Harley Drew and Mary Liz Nolan, is also the Augusta community’s number one morning program.
