Legendary agribusiness broadcaster Orion Samuelson will be recognized on 12/9 by the City of Chicago with an honorary street naming commemorating his 50 years of broadcasting on Tribune’s WGN Radio.  The southwest corner of E. Illinois Street & N. Cityfront Plaza Drive will bear the name “Orion Samuelson Way.”  The street sign will be placed on the same pole as honorary “Bob Collins Way,” which was dedicated to former WGN Radio morning host Bob Collins in 2000 after he died in a plane crash.

The honorary street naming ceremony will take place at 11 a.m.  42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly will read the proclamation and the ceremony will be carried live on WGN. Samuelson marked the 50 year milestone on Sept. 26 and was featured in an intimate interview special, “An Evening with Orion: Celebrating 50 years of Orion Samuelson on WGN Radio.” Video and audio of the special are available at wgnradio.com/orion.
