WHAT is what Aztec is buying in Philadelphia

Aztec Capital Partners Inc. is already at the controls of WHAT-AM in the City of Brotherly Love. But before too long, if all goes according to plans, it will also have the deed to the station.


The station is being sold to Aztec for $450K, according to broker Tom McKinley of Media Services Group, who represented the seller. Art Camiolo was on hand to advise Aztec Capital.

The seller in this case is Marconi Broadcasting Company LLC.

WHAT is a Class C on 1340 kHz with 1 kW both day and night. The signal is well centered in the city, and operates with a non-directional antenna.

The format being employed by Aztec is in the Spanish language arena. It is known as El Zol 1340.
