As the owner of Sage Consultants, Anita Dixon has dedicated her life toward demonstrating “the importance of recognizing the past through research, creating a timeline of information concerning origins of historic buildings, family genealogy, history of neighborhoods and cultural heritage of indigenous populations of the earth.”

For several years, this included preserving an important component of Kansas City’s African American community, and of the history of Jazz music in the United States.

But, Dixon says, unscrupulous players at the nonprofit organization she ran led to their low-power FM radio station becoming something less than it was designed to be. Now, their voice is further squelched by a co-channel FM translator nearby offering a selection of programming from the controversial Voice of Russia — Sputnik Radio.
