There’s little chatter in Washington, D.C., right now, or in the main offices of top media brokers, regarding Monday’s decision by the Third Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals to vacate and remand the FCC’s cross-ownership rule rewrite.
That’s because many of the top brokers and attorneys, including those featured in RBR+TVBR‘s Fall 2019 magazine, are presently in Dallas for the 2019 Radio Show.
What are they hearing from attendees with respect to the court’s ruling? The answers greatly vary, with at least one attorney declining to comment because she represents one of the intervenors involved in the appeal.
But, one thing seems certain: The radio industry’s leaders are extremely concerned that the Third Circuit decision has put an indefinite pause on any further deregulation — dashing hopes of more consolidation and greater access to capital many in the industry seek.
