Having failed to come to terms on a renewal with The CW (2/11/08 TVBR #28), World Wrestling Entertainment announced a new deal to air “WWE SmackDown” on News Corporation’s MyNetworkTV beginning in the Fall of 2008.
“The momentum at MyNetworkTV continues with this major acquisition. We have demonstrated tremendous growth and this partnership with WWE, the premier sports entertainment franchise in the world, is a perfect fit for our viewers, advertisers and affiliates,” declared MyNetworkTV President, Greg Meidel.
As it begins its 11th year on television, moving from UPN to The CW and now to MyNetworkTV, the two-hour weekly presentation of “WWE SmackDown” will feature a cast of “WWE Superstars.”
