Georgia ‘Zoom’ Readies To Drive Off Into Sunset

To the far southeast of Atlanta sits a Class A FM facility that serves such communities as Griffin, Forsyth, Jackson and Barnesville, Ga., with an Adult Hits format branded as “Zoom.”

Unfortunately, fans of the station will soon be driving off to another place on the dial, as a non-secular operator is buying it and changing directions.

Thanks to a sale consummated February 26 and submitted to the FCC on March 5, Radio Georgia Inc. is saying goodbye to WFAL-FM 105.9 in Milner, Ga., by selling it to Augusta Radio Fellowship Institute.

The price: $400,000.

A $20,000 escrow deposit has been made to Radio Georgia Inc., led by President David Piper. With the sale, Radio Georgia Inc. will focus its efforts on WTGA-AM & FM.

There is no broker associated with this station sale.

Piper and Radio Georgia are represented by Gary Smithwick of Smithwick & Belendiuk.
