The company owns and operates four FM stations in Kentucky’s largest market.

Now, it is welcoming an individual as President of the station group. He’s no stranger to one of those FMs, as he managed the property during the 1990s under Prism Radio Partners ownership.

He’s also one of the founding members of the former Triad Broadcasting executive team.

Taking the role for SummitMedia‘s WQNU-FM “New Country 103.1”, WVEZ-FM “Mix 106.9”, WSFR-FM “107.7 The Eagle” and WRKA-FM “103.9 The Groove” is Steve Fehder.

Fehder has been in Radio since the 1980s, and is also known as the co-founder and managing partner of Gulf Coast Radio Partners. He subsequently became an original member of Triad’s executive management team, serving as SVP/Operations from July 1999 through July 2013.

But, he first gained national attention in October 1995, when Prism Radio Partners promoted Fehder to VP/GM from Director of Sales of WWKY-AM, WTFX-FM and the aforementioned WVEZ. He had been the head of sales since 1989. The man he reported to? Then-Prism COO Mike Cutchall.

Today, he reports to SummitMedia CEO Carl Parmer.

“We are very pleased for Steve to lead our incredible Louisville team,” he said of Fehder. “He knows and loves the city, and we are very excited for our future.”

For Fehder, the return “home” to Louisville, where he began his career, cements a return to Radio that came in July 2020.

After Triad’s 2013 acquisition by the then-Larry Wilson led predecessor to Alpha Media, Fehder served as Managing Director for The Sports Media Team, a Louisville-based regional sports broadcast media and marketing company.

Fast-forward to one year ago, when he resurfaced as Market Manager for Kensington Digital Media, which operates Oldies “Hippie Radio” in Nashville, based at WHPY-FM 94.5.

“I am excited to be back home in Louisville where my career started,” Fehder says. “I am extremely proud to be leading SummitMedia Louisville’s great staff and heritage products.”
